Buy Juicer
Is juicing the answer…
What vegetable problem you ask…you know what I am talking about, eating all those darn fruits and veggies everyday. If you are anything like me, it can be a challenge to get all those veggies down. Believe me, you are not alone. If you have discovered juicing as the solution to the vegetable problem then the next step is to buy yourself a vegetable juicer , but which one?
I am not going to tell you which juicer to buy but I will tell you what is available, the different types of juicers, how they work and what they do. Additionally I will share with you info on the juicer that I own and why I bought what I bought.
I will direct you to the vendor that I purchased my juicing machine from because I had such a positive experience with both the company and the product that I am now happily making referrals. And because I like to be completely upfront, I do get paid a couple of bucks when you sign up via my site. Even better, when you purchase through my site, your standard shipping is paid for, this is a twenty-five dollar savings!
I love juicing and love what juicing does for me. Juicing keeps me healthy and I believe it contributes to longevity. There are a lot of juicers on the market to choose from and I chose the product that best suited my needs and budget and that is what I encourage you to do. It is important to note that buying a juicer or vegetable blender through me doesn’t affect your bottom line cost. So if you appreciate my the information I am providing and you have decided that it’s time to invest in your health, then here is the next step.

Juicers come in many shapes, sizes, styles types; levels of power and some are designed for very specific intended purposes. There are single gear, twin gear, triturating, centrifugal, masticating, citrus juicers, manual press and high powered vegetable blenders.
Most people start out with the basic centrifugal juicer. It is the least complicated juicer on the market. Fruit or vegetable are placed in a rapidly rotating basket and are shredded by a flat cutting blade. The shredded plant material is separated; the juice travels through the tiny holes in the basket and out a spout. The pulp may be gathered in an additional container, depending on the model. Due to the type of blade, soft fruits such as bananas and berries are not recommended, nor leafy vegetables such as parsley, spinach, and wheatgrass. These materials are likely to clog the mechanics of this type of juicer.
The two types of centrifugal juicers are the “full basket” and the “pulp ejection”. With these types, the juice is drawn continuously out of the pulp in the basket. In both cases, they make excellent juice and cleanup is relatively easy.
Masticating juicers chew plant material down to pulp. A screw type mechanism called an auger crushes and strains the produce between twin gears. Strong pressure is exerted upon the Vegetable or piece of fruit, and squeezes it’s juice out of the pulp until all the liquid is gone.
There are a few different types of pressing juicers otherwise known as masticators. The single auger juicer uses a single screw to push plant material along a strainer screen or basket. You will need to mix different types of fruits with a mixture of textures and densities so the softer plant fibers will not clog the auger mechanism. This type of juicer works well with leafy vegetables such as spinach, parsley and watercress. The triturating juicer has two instead of one auger. The word triturates means to grind, rub, crush or pound into small particles or powders. This juicer has a two-step process. Step one shreds the plant material. And step two uses both gears and augers to any remaining juice from the pulp. Again, the same combination of soft and hard fruits and veggies are required.
The simplest of juicer is the reamer and is commonly used to extract the juice from citrus fruit such as lemons, limes, oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit. You slice the fruit in half, but keep its peel. Then you press it against a slowly revolving ridged cone. The pressure against the fruit causes the juice to be expelled and collected. You can also use manual reamers and they generally do a good job and give you a little work out while you’re at it.
The press juicers squeeze the juice out of the fruit in much the same way a garlic press works; the juice flows out as the pulp is extruded.
Wheatgrass juicers are designed to juice Wheatgrass and other leafy vegetables. These juicers are perfectly capable of juicing other fruits and vegetables but not all juicers are set up for juicing wheatgrass. The best results that I am aware of come from the power driven masticating juicers.
So why all the “raw-raw” about wheatgrass, you ask, simple, wheatgrass is a highly concentrated source of vitamins and nutrients. I read that one oz. of wheat grass is equivalent to eight pounds of vegetables! Wheatgrass is 70 % chlorophyll. Chlorophyll, in addition to having a wide range of health benefits is also a proven body cleaner and toxin neutralizer. Additionally there are chemical similarities and between Chlorophyll and blood regeneration.
Wheatgrass juicers are designed to extract the greatest quantity of vitamins and nutrients from the wheatgrass making it possible to get the largest amount of benefits possible from one of Mother Nature’s best-kept secrets. If wheatgrass is your main focus you might want to focus on juicers that are specifically designed for this purpose so you are able to benefit from all the grass has to offer.
There are a lot of popular brands that produce premium quality wheatgrass juicers.
Last but not least is the Vita Mix which is a blender. but not your typical blender. The Vita Mix breaks food down to it’s liquid form so you get the juice and the pulp. I am not talking about a simple blender, I am referring to the high powered versatile power blender that pulverizes fruits veggies, nuts and pretty much anything that you put in there. The one I own is the Vita Mix 5200 (red to match my kitchen) and I love it , don’t know how I lived with out it. I like juicing for quick nutrition in combination with using the vita mix. I like the fiber with all it’s nutrition from the skin of the fruit or veggie and I like the “make me feel full” feeling that eating the pulp gives me. The Vita Mix is so powerful that it can make peanuts into peanut butter and almonds into almond butter. You can make soups and sauces in the darn thing, like I said it is not just a juicer but that is the main thing we use it for. My husband loves the Vita Mix and gets very creative. Keep an eye out for my upcoming video series “Juicing with Joe”.
Juicers like everything else, you get what you pay for, but if you are committed to juicing on a regular basis, you might want to give serious consideration to purchasing a juicer with a powerful motor. A motorized juicer makes juicing fun, fast and easy and you will do it way more often.
With all juices, they are best when consumed soon after juicing. The enzymes in the juice starts to breakdown about twenty minutes after it has been extracted. So drink up!
Juicing is a great way to get kids, big and small involved with good nutrition and food preparation. At my house we are forever trying new combination’s of ingredients and sometime we actually follow real juicing recipes. There are some wonderful books on juicing, the benefit of juicing and juice recipes. My husband loves to mix things up and then he likes to make me guess what he’s put in there. I am almost always pleasantly surprised, sometimes not, but that is rare. Either way it is always a healthy quick way to get my nutrition taken care of.
